Knowing that your loved one is always safe is one of the primary reason people choose a Senior Living Community. And one of the best ways to do that is to provide our residents with an Emergency Response System. These systems are generally composed of a few different parts.
Wall Button
Most communities have a call button located on the wall. This allows for residents to open voice to voice communication with a staff member. This call button is typically used for non-emergency situations.
Intercom
Once the call button has been pressed, a two-way voice to voice intercom is established. This allows residents to communicate their issue directly to a staff member who can then respond right away. If the resident is unable to talk, the staff member knows that something is not right and they are able to respond to this potential emergency.
Pendant
Since many emergencies don't happen conveniently next to the wall button, residents may be issued a medical alert pendant, similar to the one pictured to the left. This allows a resident to call for help no matter where they may be in the apartment. Most pendants are water-proof, so they may be worn in case of emergency while bathing.
No matter your loved one's limitations, there is a solution to provide for their individual needs.
Each system at each Retirement Living Group community is slightly different. Also, potential additional charges differ as well. Be sure to ask the Leasing Counselor at your community of choice for details on that system.
